Yehuda Halevi arrives in Cordoba in 1088 to study medicine. He falls in love with Deborah, the daughter of his host, but also encounters invasions, book burnings and bandits. Later, having made his name as a poet and philosopher, he must finally decide whether to stay with his family or begin a new and perilous voyage to the holy city of Jerusalem
