The Great North Road â since 1922 officially classified as the A1 â has been the main route between London and Edinburgh since earliest times. But roads change and so much of the original has since been bypassed leaving an intriguing trail of Âdiscovery for author Chris âWolfieâ Cooper. As we travel the 400 miles, we follow every twist and turn of the old road, past the remains of bygone carriageways, forgotten byways, dead ends, and wayside rest houses of distant memory, and even trace parts which have completely disappeared. |
